Internal Family Systems

IFS Therapy: In-Person or Online

What is Internal Family Systems (IFS)?

Internal Family Systems therapy is a type of therapy called “parts work” - a powerful modality that can help you identify and heal the parts of yourself that are holding you back. At its core, IFS is a model of the human psyche that views each person as having multiple "parts" or sub-personalities that make up their overall sense of self.

These parts can be thought of as different aspects of your personality that come to the surface in different situations. For example, you may notice that you feel 100% certain that you will stick with your gym plan this time, and then the next morning you choose sleep over your workout. Or you may notice that you act differently with your friends vs your parents or your partner. These can be seen as different parts of you, and sometimes these parts are in conflict with one another.

The Goal of IFS Therapy

The goal of IFS therapy is to help you get to know and understand these different parts of yourself, so that you can work towards healing and integrating them in a more healthy and balanced way. By learning to identify and communicate with these parts, you can start to make deep changes in your inner world and the way you behave and react.

IFS therapy is an evidence-based and highly effective form of therapy for a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship problems. It can help you gain greater self-awareness and develop a greater sense of compassion towards yourself..
