Somatic Therapy in Dallas, Plano & Frisco

In-person sessions in Plano and online therapy anywhere in Texas

You may already understand a lot about yourself. You know where your anxiety comes from, why certain relationships feel hard, or which old patterns keep showing up. And yet, in the moment, your body still reacts the same way.

That is often where somatic therapy can help. Rather than trying to think your way into feeling differently, we begin by listening to what is already happening in your body—and working with it gently, so real change has room to happen.

I'm Stephanie Fulgencio, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with more than 20 years of experience. I see clients in person at my office in Plano, just off the Dallas North Tollway, and online throughout Texas. Many of the people I work with come from Dallas, Plano, Frisco, and the surrounding North Dallas communities.

When understanding isn't enough

For most of my career, I practiced cognitive-behavioral therapy and other traditional approaches. They helped people understand their patterns, but I kept noticing the same thing: insight alone didn't always change how someone felt or responded when it mattered most.

Your body carries the imprint of your experiences—stress, emotion, protection, and the ways you learned to move through life. When we include the body and the nervous system, not only the thinking mind, change can begin to feel more natural and more lasting.

If you feel like you "know" what's going on but can't seem to change your reactions, this body-centered approach may be a good fit.

What somatic therapy with me looks like

My approach is integrative, compassionate, and attuned to you—your personality, your needs, and your goals. Depending on what you're working with, our sessions may include:

  • Somatic awareness: noticing sensations, tension, and emotion in your body, and learning to stay with them in a way that feels safe and manageable.

  • Nervous system regulation: understanding what keeps you activated or depleted, and building practical ways to return to steadiness.

  • Internal Family Systems (parts work): getting to know the different parts of you, including the protective ones, with curiosity instead of judgment.

  • Breathwork: as a Certified Breathwork Teacher, I may introduce gentle breathing practices when they fit what you need.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: practical tools for the thoughts and beliefs that keep old patterns in place.

We always move at a pace that feels right for you. You don't need to force anything, relive anything, or have it all figured out before you start.

Who I work with

I work with adults in Dallas, Plano, Frisco, and across Texas who are navigating:

  • Anxiety, stress, and feeling constantly on edge or depleted

  • Past trauma and experiences that still live in the body

  • Life transitions

  • Relationship patterns that keep repeating

  • Perfectionism, self-judgment, and impossible standards

  • A wish to understand yourself more deeply and grow

Therapy isn't just for challenging times. It can also be a meaningful part of your personal-development journey—a chance to loosen old patterns and create more room for the life you want to live.

My office is in Plano, conveniently located right off the Dallas North Tollway, just south of the Shops at Legacy. That makes it an easy drive up the Tollway from Dallas, and a short trip south for clients coming from Frisco.

When you arrive, you're welcome to enjoy complimentary coffee, chai tea, or hot chocolate in the comfortable downstairs lounge.

Prefer the comfort of your own space, or live farther from Plano? I offer online therapy through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform you can join from your computer, tablet, or phone. In-person clients can also switch to video sessions anytime.

Somatic work can be done online. Many clients find it easier to notice what's happening in their body when they're somewhere familiar and relaxed.

Because I'm licensed in Texas, I can provide therapy only to people who are physically located in Texas at the time of the session. If you're outside Texas, my Somatic Coaching sessions may be a good fit instead.

A little about me

I've spent more than 20 years supporting people in healing, personal growth, and meaningful inner change. My own path to somatic work came through personal experience as much as training, and more than 25 years of yoga and meditation practice shape how I understand transformation—not only as something we understand intellectually, but as something we experience through the body.

As a single mother and an only child with aging parents, I also know what it's like to make room for inner work within a full, practical life.

Questions people often ask

What is somatic therapy? Somatic therapy is a body-based approach to healing. Alongside talking about your experiences, we pay attention to what's happening in your body—sensations, tension, breath, and emotion—so you can work with patterns at the level where they're actually held.

How is it different from traditional talk therapy? Talk therapy focuses mostly on thoughts and insight. Somatic therapy includes those, and also brings in your body and nervous system. Many people come to me after talk therapy helped them understand their patterns but didn't fully change how they feel or react.

Do I need to have trauma to try somatic therapy? No. Somatic therapy can help with stress, anxiety, perfectionism, relationship patterns, and personal growth. You don't need a diagnosis or a specific problem to begin.

Can somatic therapy work online? Yes. I offer online sessions to clients anywhere in Texas, and in-person clients can switch to video anytime.

How much does it cost? My rate is $160 for a 50-minute session and $320 for an optional 100-minute somatic therapy session. You'll receive a Good Faith Estimate when you schedule your first appointment.

Do you take insurance? I am not currently accepting insurance plans, however, you can use your HSA for therapy services.

How do I know if you're the right therapist for me? The best way to find out is a free consultation. You can share what's bringing you to therapy, ask questions, and get a sense of whether it feels like a good fit.
